School building echoes teacher's words before she speaks them
A teacher checking for leaks hears her own voice coming from inside the empty school building, speaking her words before she says them.
Yuki's voice answered from inside the school before she opened her mouth. She was checking classrooms for leaks. In the empty hall, she said hello and heard it return a moment later, so she blamed the old intercom.
The echo arrives before the words
In the science room, the windows are shut came from the corridor, softer and slightly late. She checked every classroom. The intercom panel had no power.
Near the gym, she called June, then heard her own voice repeat June's name after a longer pause. June answered from the parking lot and told her to leave.
The building speaks first
At the front doors, Yuki said I'm outside. Her voice repeated it from somewhere inside. The doors unlocked. June heard Yuki say thank you before Yuki spoke.
Yuki stopped talking because the school was answering first.
