Motel receipt charged for a second occupant who wasn't there
A woman discovers an extra charge on her motel receipt, then finds footage of someone standing over her while she slept.
Marisol checked into a motel alone, but her receipt charged her $18.37 for a second occupant. The clerk said there was only one other guest, Gideon, in room 6.
Midnight knock from an empty bathroom
At midnight, someone knocked from inside Marisol's bathroom. She opened the door. The room was empty.
Marisol filmed the locked window, then the shower curtain. She finished on the mirror and sent the clip to Gideon. He called immediately.
Your video is 12 seconds long, he said. Marisol had recorded 11. The extra frame showed Marisol asleep on the bed.
The woman in the uniform
A woman in a motel uniform stood over her, holding the receipt. Gideon whispered that he'd been charged for a second occupant, too. Then his door opened along the walkway.
Marisol heard him ask, are you the manager? Something heavy crossed his room, and the call disconnected. She ran outside.
Room 6 was empty
Room 6 was unlocked. Gideon was gone, but his phone was still recording. The final frame showed the uniformed woman standing at Marisol's door.
Marisol turned around. The woman held out a key. Second occupants don't leave before checkout.
By morning, the motel had one guest. Marisol's receipt now listed Gideon as the second occupant.
